Automatic 3D Reconstruction of Urban Areas, by using Epipolar Geometry and Template Matching

چکیده
\ Abstract In this work we describe a novel technique for automatic 3D reconstruction of urban areas, from airborne stereo-pair images whose output is VRML. The main challenge is to compute the relevant information building’s height, roof’s description and texture – algorithmically, since it is very time consuming and thus expensive to produce it manually for large urban areas. The algorithm requires some initial calibration input and is able to compute the above mentioned building characteristics from the stereo pair, without no knowledge of the camera pose or its intrinsic parameters (other than the camera lens distortion parameters). To achieve this, we have used epipolar geometry, automatic feature extraction and we have solved the feature correspondence problem in the stereo pair, by using template matching.

TR-2008013: Content-Based 3D Mosaics for Large-Scale Dynamic Urban Scenes
We propose a content-based 3D mosaic (CB3M) representation for long video sequences of 3D and dynamic urban scenes captured by a camera on a mobile platform. In the first phase, a set of parallel-perspective (pushbroom) mosaics with varying viewing directions is generated to capture both the 3D and dynamic aspects of the scene under the camera coverage. In the second phase, a segmentation-based...
متن کاملEfficient 3d Modeling for Historical Structure by Image Sequences Analysis
In order to perform object modelling by using images processing procedures, line or feature extraction and stereo matching will be performed in general. However, there are some issues of efficient 3D modelling for historical structure. In particular, efficient line matching for reconstruction of objects is needed to be resolved. With this objective, this paper investigates a robust line matchin...

متن کاملLine-based 3D Reconstruction of Wiry Objects
Man-made environments contain many weakly textured surfaces which are typically poorly modeled in sparse point reconstructions. Most notable, wiry structures such as fences, scaffolds, or power pylons are not contained at all. This paper presents a novel approach for generating line-based 3D models from image sequences. Initially, camera positions are obtained using conventional Structurefrom-M...
متن کاملContent-Based 3D Mosaics for Dynamic Urban Scenes
We propose a content-based 3D mosaic (CB3M) representation for long video sequences of 3D and dynamic scenes captured by a camera on a mobile platform. The motion of the camera has a dominant direction of motion (as on an airplane or ground vehicle), but 6 DOF motion is allowed. In the first step, a set of parallel-perspective (pushbroom) mosaics with varying viewing directions is generated to ...
